About Shifting Perspective Counselling

Compassionate Counselling for Grief, Life Transitions & Emotional Overwhelm

If you are feeling weighed down by grief, change, or emotional exhaustion, you do not have to navigate it alone.

At Shifting Perspective Counselling, you will find a calm, supportive space to slow things down, make sense of what you are carrying, and begin moving forward in a way that feels grounded and respectful of your experience.

Whether you are grieving a significant loss, adjusting to a major life transition, or feeling emotionally overwhelmed, support is available at a pace that feels right for you.

A Space Where You Don’t Have to Hold It All Together

Many people come to counselling after coping on their own for a long time. From the outside, things may appear manageable, but internally there can be grief, stress, confusion, emotional fatigue, or a quiet sense that something no longer feels okay.

Counselling is not about fixing you or telling you to simply move on. It is about understanding what you are experiencing, processing it safely, and helping you reconnect with your sense of strength, clarity, and self-trust.

Who I Work With

I support individuals, parents, and families who may be navigating:

  • grief and loss, including death, separation, divorce, suicide loss, and ambiguous loss

  • major life transitions that leave you feeling unsettled, overwhelmed, or emotionally exhausted

  • FIFO-related stress affecting individuals, partners, and families

  • parenting challenges, including supporting children or adolescents with ADHD

  • burnout, emotional overload, and difficulty coping day to day

  • ADHD-related challenges affecting focus, regulation, confidence, and daily functioning

You do not need to be in crisis to seek support. Many people come to counselling simply because they know something does not feel right anymore and they want a safe space to explore it with care.

My Approach to Counselling

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-informed practice. I work alongside you, not above you, creating a space where your experiences are respected and your voice matters.

My work draws on evidence-based modalities including CBT, ACT, DBT, and SFT, and support is always tailored to your needs, goals, and circumstances rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.

In our work together, you can expect:

  • a safe, non-judgemental space where your story is genuinely heard

  • support that helps you process emotions rather than suppress them

  • practical strategies to build resilience, clarity, and confidence

  • flexible options, including in-person counselling on the Sunshine Coast and online sessions via telehealth

Counselling is not about telling you what to do. It is about helping you better understand yourself, make sense of what you are experiencing, and feel supported as you move forward.

Why This Work Matters

Unprocessed grief and emotional stress do not simply disappear. Over time, they can affect your relationships, energy, confidence, and ability to cope.

Counselling offers space to pause, reflect, process, and gently shift perspective so difficult experiences do not continue to weigh so heavily. With the right support, it is possible to move forward without leaving important parts of yourself behind.

This counselling space may be a good fit if:

  • You want support that is calm, respectful, and compassionate

  • You’re open to exploring your thoughts and emotions at your own pace

  • You value both understanding and practical coping tools

This may not be the right fit if:

  • You’re looking for quick fixes without reflection

  • You’re seeking assessment-only or medical-based treatment

Finding the right counsellor matters. It’s okay to take time to decide what feels right for you.
